CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

Bringing balance to the body from the inside out

As a CranioSacral therapist, Sarah Beth brings balance, organization and movement to the body from the inside out.

CranioSacral therapy is a gentle, hands-on method of enhancing the function of the craniosacral system, one of the core organizing systems of the body and an expression of vitality and homeostasis balance. It is made up of the bones, membranes and fluids that surround, protect and nourish the brain, spinal cord and central nervous system.

Increased movement and vitality in the system creates more ease in the whole being, enabling people to thrive and heal.

Because it acts on the deepest structures and organs of the nervous system, CranioSacral Therapy influences motor, pain and coordination mechanisms, the digestive system, the respiratory system, heart function and the endocrine system.

Rather than “fix” the conditions, CranioSacral Therapy support the body's own self-corrective mechanisms. The body will lead the way and do what the patient needs for self-healing; the therapist simply helps to facilitate the healing process.

CranioSacral Therapy has proved useful for a wide variety of dysfunctions including:

  • neurological problems such as traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries

  • herniated discs

  • migraine headaches

  • fatigue

  • coordination difficulties and stroke, and more.

CranioSacral Therapy for Infants and Children

Sometimes babies are injured during the birth process;  prolonged labor, vacuum extraction, forceps or cesarean birth can all be traumatic both physically and emotionally. If they don’t self-correct, the effects from birth trauma can interfere with proper cranial nerve function that can lead to colic, swallowing and digestive issue or even sensory-motor impairment in children as they grow.

Cesarean birth can be particularly difficult. The birth process is abrupt and potentially more frightening than traditional birth. Cesarean-birth babies may experience more respiratory distress, more abnormal neurological issues, more chronic middle ear infections and other problems throughout childhood.

As a gentle, non-invasive, hands-on body treatment, CranioSacral Therapy can be effective in treating these issues in infants and children, supporting and balancing fluids as well as the nervous system to that your child’s body can self correct and heal naturally.

CranioSacral therapy may help:

  • Babies who favor turning their heads to one side

  • Babies who have digestive or elimination difficulties

  • Babies who seem overly sensitive

  • Babies who seem uncomfortable in their body

  • Breastfeeding problems

  • Chronic middle ear infections

  • Colic

  • Developmental delays

  • Difficulty latching
